Seeds Catalog Request

Greetings from the Garden,

Gardens grow all year round and we have a new late season planting guide in PDF form. If there is a plant we haven't listed but you think will overwinter give it a try. In this period of rising fuel and food prices gardeners are growing fresh vegetables and herbs through most of the year. Fresh picked flavor from your backyard beats that of produce trucked thousands of miles and of course has a small environmental footprint.

Our 2008 catalog is available in a print version and as downloadable PDFs on this website. This digital format allows you to access the entire Nichols catalog and by opening two browser windows you can read the PDF version in one and utilize our website in the other for ordering.

We support Plant A Row for The Hungry, a national program of the Garden Writer's Association. To learn more about PAR see the sidebar. In 2004, Rose Marie and fellow GWA members built a display garden at Northwest Flower and Garden Show to promote PAR. This garden featured a border of straw bales planted with salad greens. To read about straw bale culture follow the link to straw bale gardening.

In a time of corporate culture and takeovers, Nichols remains a family operated business steeped in a tradition of fine culinary gardening. For over 50 years we've been committed to excellent service, selection, and the highest quality products. We are an original signer of the safe seed pledge and offer no genetically modified seed, plants, or products.

The Gardener's Pantry, Rose Marie's blog, has started its second year. Herb and vegetable gardening topics are discussed in greater depth than catalog space allows. See her postings of recipes for Yacon and other seasonal garden produce.

"The Bountiful Container" by Rose Marie Nichols McGee and Maggie Stuckey is our most popular book and a complete guide to growing vegetables, herbs, fruits and edible flowers in containers.
